How Life Path Number Calculator Works
It’s easy to calculate your Life Path number. Let’s use this birth date as an example 03/24/1992.
Then, divide it into three Period Cycles. Your First Period will be based on your month of birth. In this case, it’s 24, which reduces to 6. Your Second Period is the result of adding the numbers of your day of birth, is the number 3. Your Third Period is the result of adding the digits of the year you were born: 1+9+9+2=21 → 2+1=3.
Then, we just have to add those digits (3+6+3=1+2=3) to correctly determine that this individual’s Life Path number is 3.
Note: there are three Master numbers: 11, 22, and 33. Don’t reduce them—keep them as is!

To calculate this number, use your birthdate, including day, month, and year. You first must write your birth date as MM/DD/YYYY. For example, let’s compute Bob Dylan’s life path number:
May 24, 1941: 05/24/1941:
5 (May is the fifth month)
2 + 4 = 6 (24 is the day of the month)
1 + 9 + 4 + 1 = 15 = 6 (1941 is the year)
6 + 5 + 6 = 17 = 8 Life Path
In other words, Bob Dylan has a life path number of 8. Let’s try one that involves master numbers:
December 29, 1999: 12/29/1999:
1 + 2 = 3 (December is the twelfth month)
9 + 2 = 11 (the day of the month—11 is a master number, so we don’t reduce)
1 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 28 = 2 + 8 = 10 = 1 (1999 is the year)
11 + 3 + 1 = 15 = 6 Life Path

Incorrect Ways to Calculate Life Path Number
Correctly calculating your life path number is crucial if you want it to be accurate. Here are some of the most common mistakes people make:
Ignoring Master Numbers
The numbers 11, 22, and 33 are master numbers and don’t get reduced. If you do, you’re going to screw up your result.
Incorrect Addition
Add each period cycle separately when totaling up the numbers in your birthdate. For example, if you were born on 04/28/1961:
- Start by adding the day of the month (28 = 2 + 8 = 10 = 1).
- Then, add the month (0 + 4 = 4).
- Next, add the digits in the year (1 + 9 + 6 + 1 = 17 = 8).
- Lastly, add all the numbers (1 + 4 + 8 = 13 = 4).
If you were to add the numbers in the order they appear (0 + 4 + 2 + 8 + 1 + 9 + 6 + 1), you could come up with a master number that’s not really there, ignore a master number that’s actually there or some other computational error that would render your results invalid.
Another incorrect way to calculate your life path number is to add up each period cycle before reducing it. For example, let’s say you were born on October 25, 1984 (which also happens to be Katy Perry’s birthday). If you calculate the life path number this way:
10 + 25 + 1984 = 2019 = 12 = 3
YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG!
Failing to Reduce to a Single Digit
Unless you end up with a master number, you must reduce the final sum to a digit between 1 and 9. For example, if you ended up with 19, you’d add 1 and 9, giving you the number 10. This further reduces to 1.

I was born on November 22. 11 and 22 are not reduced, but what to do with the 33, which I get by adding these numbers? Should I add them up, or leave 33 and then add my year? Thanks.
There are three Master numbers: 11, 22, and 33. Don’t reduce. Use 33.
